Naila Tasneem

I completed my MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery) from the University of Health Sciences, Lahore, Pakistan, and my post-graduation training from Bahawal Victoria Hospital, Bahawalpur, Pakistan. I have worked in Obstetrics & Gynecology and Pediatric Medicine departments as a medical doctor. After the completion of my medical training, I had the opportunity to work as a medical officer, for a collaborative project of the World Health Organization and The Johanniter International Assistance, for the management of malnourished children with acute and chronic digestive tract problems. Throughout my medical training, I was always inquisitive about molecular details of different chronic diseases, specifically cancer. I have recently joined the Ken Lau Lab to study the role of specific patient-relevant genetic mutations in the development of colorectal cancer and its manifestation in mice. Through the development of the mouse models, we hope to understand the initial characteristics of cancer development leading to metastasis, uncover the interaction between tumor cells and stroma, and study the mechanism of tumor progression. Outside of the lab, I enjoy my time with my family exploring the outdoors.
